About Our Doctors

Dr Alice Powell

M.B.Ch.B (Stell)

Dip OH (Lond)

Dr Powell has been a general practitioner in Hout Bay since 2001.

She qualified with a M.B.Ch,B from Stellenbosch University in 1993. She completed her internship at Ngwelezana Hospital, KZN in 1994. She then spent 6 years in the U.K gaining experience in emergency and paediatric medicine. She obtained her Diploma in Child Health in London.

Alice enjoys seeing patients of all ages . She has a particular interest in child health and women’s health, including contraception and HRT.

She is married with two boys. Outside of work Alice enjoys time with her family, painting and being out in nature.


Dr Max Peter Winkler

Dr Winkler completed his MBChB at UCT in 2008, he then completed his internship at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Johannesburg before moving to Grahamstown in the eastern cape for his community service year. He moved back to Cape Town in 2012 and  he has been working as a general practitioner in Hout Bay since 2014.

Max is the current president elect of the South African Society of Travel Medicine and is a member of the South African Society of Occupational Medicine. His fields of interest include general practice, travel health, infectious diseases, wilderness medicine and occupational health.

In his spare time you can find Max spending time with his family, camping in his Land Rover, walking his labradoodle on the mountain, or fly fishing in the Cape streams.
